WALTER'S FRIEND
Bob Seabeck

sponsored by Barron Collier II
Mixing the techniques of layering to achieve the patina of painted bronze with the action painting reminiscent of Cody native and abstract expressionist, Jackson Pollock, Bob Seabeck brings light and life to this sculpture, nuanced shades subtlely highlighting and drawing the eye and enhancing the symbolism of the grizzly's power. In this painted fiberglass form, we find an examination of the rich colors used in Indian arts and natural forms, visually provoking the viewer and challenging our concepts of the power of this seated figure.

The Naming of Walter's Friend
WALTZING WITH BEARS

(words adapted from Dr. Seuss, Music Eugene Poddany)
Our Uncle Walter's not right in the head
He's been that way all his life, my mother said
Its not that he's violent or falls down the stairs
Its just he goes waltzing, waltzing with bears.
CHORUS

He goes wa wa wa waltzing, waltzing with bears
Raggy bears, shaggy bears, baggy bears too
There's nothing on earth Uncle Walter won't do
So he can go waltzing, wa wa wa waltzing
He can go waltzing, waltzing with bears

I went to his room in the middle of the night
I tiptoed in and I turned on the light
But to my surprise, he was nowhere in sight
For my Uncle Walter goes waltzing at night
